This summer, I’ve spent over 10,512 minutes listening to music using both my AirPods Max and my third-generation AirPods.

It’s made me realise one thing: buying the AirPods Max was both my best and worst financial decision.

Like many AirPods Max users, I was drawn in by the noise cancellation and over-ear design. However, those features have ultimately deterred me from considering this product again in the future.

That’s not to say the AirPods Max are bad at what they do—in fact, they have some of the best noise cancellation I’ve ever experienced. But I’ve come to the conclusion that due to their form factor and over-ear design, I made a mistake.

I’ve spent most of this summer alternating between my AirPods Max and my third-generation AirPods, and it’s made me realise that I should have picked up the AirPods Pro instead.

Granted, the AirPods Max are miles ahead in terms of quality, but the AirPods Pro might be exactly what I need.

I’ve always prioritised sound quality over physical design, which has been evident in my previous headphone choices, but I think the AirPods Pro are different.

Despite costing less than half of what the AirPods Max retail for, the AirPods Pro might be the better option for me.

The biggest struggle with the AirPods Max is how limiting they are. Due to their weight, I feel like I’m forced to leave them behind on long journeys to avoid the hassle of carrying them. This means I miss out on the noise cancellation, which I usually rely on heavily.

Having the AirPods Pro would eliminate that problem, as they are not only portable but also offer excellent noise cancellation.

The main reason I didn’t purchase the AirPods Pro initially was because I already had the third-generation AirPods. I was too concerned about wasting money, but ended up wasting even more by buying another product. In hindsight, I could have easily done a trade-in deal with Apple or another retailer.

But let me know, what do you think? Should I keep my AirPods Max or trade them in for the AirPods Pro?
